Our topics
In the field of "Systems Biology of Plants" we deal with post-translational regulatory mechanisms in adaptation processes of plants to changing external nutrient conditions. We are particularly interested in dynamic protein phosphorylation and protein-protein interactions of plasma membrane proteins and membrane-bound kinases.
Experimentally, we use quantitative methods of protein mass spectrometry to identify phosphorylation sites, to characterise protein-protein interactions and to compare abundance changes of proteins.
we combine experimental and mathematical-analytical approaches to analyse complex biological systems. Using modern large-scale analytics, we analyse metabolic pathways or cell compartments (e.g. plasma membrane) as a whole and use the data to create regulatory networks that help us to better understand plant adaptation processes.
